NEW ORLEANS

We flew to New Orleans on the 14th of August. After a few days, we were fed up with run-down and noisy accommodations and too little sleep. So far, every day has been very action-packed and packed with sights, so we finally wanted to get some real sleep again. So we cancelled our hostel and booked a nice double room in the Holiday Inn. Wow… The breakfast … The bed … The pool … That was the moment when we realized that we are not normal backpackers.
We are flash packers! After all, we had saved a year on for this trip. Why not enjoy it? 🙂
For those of you, who don’t know what a flash packer is – they are backpackers who stay in hotels or apartments, go out in the evening for dinner and don’t work. If you want to know how much we spent – click here.

What to do in New Orleans?

  • Bourbon Street
On our first evening, we walked down Bourbon Street. The music, the flair, the bars and the lights … So unique. On our last evening, we went to a jazz bar and we had very good seats.
  • French Quater
We travelled there by “the Ladies in red“ (Cable Cars). French Quarter has loads of beautiful houses and architecture.
  • Jackson Square
St. Louis Cathedral with the cute little park is very nice.
  • Mississippi River
To be completely honest … I thought it was great that I actually saw the river in real life, but I wasn’t really thrilled. Unfortunately, the river is very brown and dirty and it smells strange.

Where did we eat in New Orleans?

We only had breakfast in the hotel and in the evenings, we had either something small in the jazz bar (Café Beignet New Orleans) or dinner in the hotel again.
